Administrators have the ability to create People and User Accounts in Salute
Users with Salute Administrator privileges are the only Users in Salute who will be able to perform this function. Salute Portal Group Managers, Salute Portal Users, and Community Portal Users will not be able to create People and/or User Accounts.
Critical Components
- Creating a Person: Adds a Person to the list of people in Salute
- Creating a User Account: After creating a person, a Salute Admin will have the ability to create this User Account if needed. If this person does not need to log in, they will not need to have a User Account Created. A User Account gives Users the ability to log in.
Creating a New Person
From the Salute Portal home page, select People from the Inventory category.
From the People landing page, locate and select the "+New Person" button that is in the top right corner of the screen.
A New Person form will appear. The Overview section must be filled out.
Required Fields: First Name, Last Name, Email, Institutional ID
Note: Administrators should be consistent with the Institutional ID used e.g, email, employee ID, net ID.
Fill out EHS Info if applicable. For more information on assigning Delegates/Safety Coordinators, please reference our Assigning Delegates via the Salute Portal article.
Creating a User Account
After creating a person, a Salute Admin will have the ability to create this User an Account if needed. If this person does not need to log in, they will not need to have a User Account Created. A User Account gives Users the ability to log in. By default, after a person is created, their Account Type will be "No Account".
- No Account: The person exists in Salute and can be selected from the People lists, but cannot log in.
- NOTE: these People DO receive notifications regardless of their ability to log in
From the person's profile, the Administrator will be able to "Create User Account" for that User. This account will be password-based and the User will receive an email with a link to confirm and set their password.
Managing Users
Salute admins have the ability to reset passwords and mark People as Active or Inactive.
If a User is marked as Inactive, they will no longer be able to log in.
Clients with People Integrations
Many Salute clients have an integration between Salute and a HRIS and often use single-sign-on to log into Salute.
If a User already has an Account in the Salute, the system will not allow for duplicate accounts to be created.
If a User was created with a password-based account and then appears through the people integration, the Salute system will automatically update that persons account type to SSO.
